Bounties
If you are a developer with solid experience in C#, rendering techniques, or game development, we want to hire you! We have allocated funds from supporters on OpenCollective and will pay you for your work on certain issues.
What you can work on
Some issues on our GitHub repository have bounties associated with them. You can view all of them here.
If you think that a bounty isn't satisfactory, let us know the amount you would want. Feel free to contact us either through an issue's thread or on Discord in #github-pr-and-issues.
Who can take on bounties
We welcome anyone who would want to help us enhance Stride, as long as their contributions reach a certain level of quality. Therefore, we do not allow bots, AI agents or users who heavily rely on AI assistance to claim bounties.
If we suspect that your contribution will be of low effort based on previous activity from your GitHub account, we reserve a right to decline assigning you to a task.
Opening new bounties
If the feature you want to work on doesn't have a bounty, we can open one for you! However, we ask that you adhere to the following criteria before reaching out:
- Only contributors can request bounties. Consider submitting a few PRs to get acquainted with the project.
- We will not open bounties for small bug-fixes, or couple-line solutions. We have limited funds and we want to use them only for major additions that will aid the engine.
- We are not interested in opening bounties that are requested by bots or AI agents.
- We are not interested in opening bounties for low-quality or fully vibe-coded PRs.
You can contact us through an issues's thread on GitHub or through Discord in #github-pr-and-issues.
Taking a bounty
- Find the issue that is associated with your bounty.
- Check if the issue isn't taken. If someone is already assigned, but hasn't made progress for more than a month, you can ask us if they can be taken off.
- Reply in the issue's thread and tag
@stride3d/stride-contributorswith your email or Discord handle. - Once assigned, create a new pull request and we'll review it.
- After your PR gets merged you will receive 60% of the bounty and the other 40% on the next official release of the engine.
Getting paid
As mentioned in the previous section, once a PR is merged, we will give you 60% of the bounty and the other 40% on the next official release of the engine.
We utilize the Open source collective as our fiscal host to approve the payments. They process payouts twice-a-week, once they have been approved by the admins of the Collective. They can only make payouts to countries served by PayPal and Wise.
Our fiscal host resides in the US. You may have to file a tax form depending on the sum of the bounty, see Tax Information.
Bounties are paid out in dolars. Currently, we do not support crypto currencies.
